About Silvia
When Silvia Mathewson arrived in Maine from Brazil in 2016 with her American husband, she brought more than just her suitcase—she brought a passion for food, culture, and creativity. After immersing herself in the local language and community, Silvia began teaching Brazilian cooking through local education programs, blending her heritage with Maine’s culinary curiosity.
But her journey didn’t stop there.
With a historian’s eye for detail and a food lover’s heart, Silvia turned her attention to one of Maine’s most iconic ingredients: the wild blueberry. Her twist? A bold and irresistible creation—Wild Pickled Blueberries. Tangy, vibrant, and bursting with natural flavor, these little gems elevate everything from cheese boards to cocktails and roasted meats.
In 2019, Silvia launched Planet Naskeag, a natural foods brand dedicated to crafting delicious, small-batch products with heart. Our pickled blueberries are made with locally sourced fruit, certified by the University of Maine’s Food and Agriculture Cooperative Extension, and produced in a state-inspected facility where cleanliness and care are top priorities.
At Planet Naskeag, we believe that cooking is an act of love—and you can taste that love in every bite.
